Prime Minister thanks St John Rescue Corps Volunteers

On Monday 2nd June, the prime minister Dr Robert Abela and the parliamentary secretary for youth and voluntary organisations Dr Clifton Grima visited St John Rescue Corps Headquarters at Fort Madalena.

The prime minister was briefed about the activities of the Corps and he was informed that during 2019 the Corps volunteers carried out 10,000 hours of voluntary work. Between March and May 2020, the Corps volunteers carried out 826 hours voluntary work in the community, 36 hours assisting in fire fighting accidents and 459 hours in other duties.

Dr Robert Abela thanked the volunteers for their work to assist the civil protection authorities and promised his support to the St John Rescue Corps and other voluntary organisations working in this sector.
